For quite some time, I wanted to get around to discover the local jewelery designers and brands of the Côte d'Azur. Finally, in the beginning of September, I managed to travel the south for several days, exploring Cannes, Nice and Monte-Carlo. These are the cities where I brought my experiences from, and would like to give you an overview and my recommendations of the local brands and jewellery. In this first post of the series, let's see my favourites from Cannes - and our next stop will be Nice! If you want to be the first to know about the new posts, follow Jewelery Page on Facebook and Instagram!

If you get on the TGV in Paris early morning, you can already have your lunch in Cannes at noon. I’m often surprised how diverse this country is. From the rainy capital, by train or by car, we can relatively quickly get to beautiful beaches, mountains or to the coulorful countryside. What's cool in the South of France, is that it shows you it's very different faces depending on which city you visit. If you've been to some of its regions, you still can't say that you know it all. The cityscape, the mood, the gastronomy, the terrain, the variety of plants or the color of the soil, which in some places have shades like red bricks. Beaches are also of many kind: sanded in Cannes, larger pebbles in Nice, while the two cities are very close together.

CANNES, FRANCE

This city is a very interesting place, where the Mediterranean atmosphere, the charming historic cityscape and the luxury are present at the same time. Inititally I thought Cannes is only about gleam and luxury, but there is much more to it. Of course, the richness is apparent: the world's most expensive brands, luxury cars and yachts are all over the place. Besides that, there is a unique historical mood. The narrow streets, the typical buildings of the old town, the church, the watchtower, the old town wall at the top of Chevalier Hill - they all remind you of what Cannes was like when it was just a small fishing village. At the same time, the atmosphere of the place is largely determined by the holiday mood: the bustling restaurants of the old harbor, the beautiful but crowded beach or its world famous ice cream shop offering over 60 different flavors continuously.

JEWELLERY FROM CANNES

© Lavallie Bijoux et Joaillerie

I would like to mention to you three local jewellery brand from Cannes. First, Lavallie Bijoux et Joaillerie, which sells wonderful creations of Krisztina Kuti and George Radic. Krisztina is a recognized jewellery designer from Budapest, Hungary who have had many international exhibitions. George lived in New York where he worked as a jeweller at the beginning of his career with such great names like Bulgari, Harry Winston or Van Cleef & Arpels. The couple have worked together for 16 years and have made unique style jewellery. Their shop, which is also a creative atelier, is located in the heart of Cannes.

The other brand that I would like to draw your attention to is Les 3 Ors. This intimate jewelery boutique sells its own creations and deals with the acquisition and sale of special pieces. In addition, they can also bring individual ideas to life and prepare personalized pieces. If it is about repairing jewelery, replacing stones and pearls, or setting a ring size, for example, there is no obstacle to them. The local brand has been offering high quality services to its customers since 1978.

© IONI Bijou

IONI Bijou is a local, new brand which offers fashion jewellery. I also met the brand representatives and some of their creations at the Paris Bijorhca International Jewelry Show in September (one of my previous post about the event available: here - only in Hungarian for now). They are playful but elegant jewellery for a large age-group. I am looking forward to the further development of the brand!

If you travel to Cannes, I would recommend to visit these boutiques as well: Joaillerie Gaucherand (prestigious shop in the center selling famous luxury brands - link), and L'atelier d'Amaya (a French brand operated by a mother and her daughter - link).
